Endemol Shine Boomdog Showcases New Development in First-Ever Upfront Presentations
Mexico City-based Studio Unveils Slate of New Scripted and Unscripted Content to Buyers
Developing Drama Based on Antonieta Rivas Mercado and New Version of Hit Game Show "El gran Juego de la oca"
January 28, 2021 - For the first time in its history, Endemol Shine Boomdog, a division of Endemol Shine North America, will showcase its development to U.S. Hispanic, Mexican and Latin American broadcast and cable networks, as well as streaming platforms, it was announced today by Alejandro Rincon, CEO, Endemol Shine Boomdog.
During the week of Feb. 15-19, Endemol Shine Boomdog’s scripted and unscripted teams will share a bounty of new development projects, including an original scripted series based on the life of Antonieta Rivas Mercado.
"Antonieta," which will be produced in partnership with Gaston Pavlovich of Fabrica de Cine, tells the life story of Rivas Mercado, the legendary Mexican female activist. The series will be written by Susana Lopez Rubio ("El Tiempo Entre Costuras") and is based on the life rights of Rivas Mercado.
The studio is also developing a new version of the beloved Spanish-language hit "The Great Game of the Goose" ("El gran Juego de la oca"). The studio is re-imaging the classic game show for a 21st Century audience. "The Great Game of the Goose" was first produced in Madrid, Spain in 1993 and went on to be a breakout hit with Spanish-speaking audiences globally. The series was originally created by Jocelyn Hattab.
Boomdog will also share exciting new projects from award-winning actress/producer Kate Del Castillo and her Endemol Shine-housed Cholawood production team, as well as projects with acclaimed actress and comedian Mara Escalante. Boomdog’s Head of Scripted Leo Zimbron and its top unscripted development executive Alvaro Godoy will join Rincon and others from the studio to walk buyers through all of the new programming.
“Over the last year, we have worked extraordinarily hard developing fiction and non-fiction projects with some of the top producers, writers and talent in our industry and during these unprecedented times, we felt the best way for us to showcase all of our great content would be through these Upfront presentations,” said Rincon. “This marks the first time in our history that we are hosting Upfront presentations and we’re truly excited to walk our clients, friends through all that we have developed.”
“We are excited to present our most advanced projects in a very special way, the result of the creative work with our closest colleagues, such as Fabrica de Cine, with whom we bring Antonieta Rivas Mercado’s remarkable story to life through a new dramatic TV series,” said Boomdog’s Zimbron. “And we are very fortunate to have the talented Susana Lopez Rubio joining us as our Head Writer for the series.”
Godoy added, “'El gran Juego' de la oca is truly one of the most beloved game shows of all time with Spanish-language viewers globally and we’re thrilled to be bringing it back with some exciting new twists.”
