Star Académie Unveils New Visual Identity and Announces September Auditions Launch

July 14, 2020 - It’s a go! TVA, Quebecor Content and Productions Déferlantes are actively preparing the highly‑anticipated return of one of Quebec’s most iconic TV shows: Star Académie! Next winter, audiences will be treated to a new group of talented young singers from different parts of Quebec and New Brunswick. These up-and-coming artists will have an opportunity to hone their talent right before our eyes, under the expert guidance of some amazing teachers. And of course, our contestants will also share the stage with some of the biggest local and international music stars.

In preparation for this new season, TVA, Quebecor Content and Productions Déferlantes are delighted to unveil a new visual identity for Star Académie, a format of Endemol Shine North America. This elegant and contemporary signature was developed for the show’s 2021 edition by Grafika-award-winning Montreal design agency Baillat Studio.

The production team would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that Star Académie auditions will get underway in September across many regions of Quebec and New Brunswick. That means singers aged 16 to 30 have the rest of the summer to gear up for this unique musical adventure. Details on how to prepare can be found online at Audition dates and cities will be announced shortly, along with procedures put in place to fully comply with public health requirements.

“All of us at TVA are extremely excited to bring back this high-quality production,” says Nathalie Fabien, Senior Director, Stations & Programming, TVA Group. “Star Académie has stolen the hearts of countless fans, and it will continue to offer powerful Sunday evening viewing thanks to engaging and talented performers who shine a bright light on local music. Viewers should get ready for lots of highly emotional moments next winter.”

“As Star Académie prepares for its big comeback, Quebecor Content is committed to delivering a high-quality production and giving it a fresh start, in keeping with contemporary society and values. Without a doubt, the show will be a major part of our cultural landscape, especially in the current context. More than ever, as the performing arts slowly come back to life, we want to provide an exceptional showcase for local music and artists. For us, it’s about allowing young, unpolished talent to benefit from the experience of established artists, as one generation passes the torch to the other. We can’t wait to announce more details about this upcoming season,” explains Denis Dubois, Vice President, Original Content, Quebecor Content.

“I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to finally launch this new edition of Star Académie. All of us are looking forward to starting the auditions, which are a crucial step for us since the young singers that get chosen will make the show come alive and audiences come together. As co-producers, Benoît Clermont and I are working with TVA to recruit a bright, daring and diverse group of talented contestants, with different backgrounds, personalities and musical styles that reflect modern Quebec society,” adds Jean‑Philippe Dion.

TVA, Quebecor Content and Productions Déferlantes invite all music lovers to seize this opportunity to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime human and artistic journey. We’ll see you this September across Quebec!
