Franco Escamilla Signs On to Host Endemol Shine Boomdog's Adaptation of "LEGO® Masters" for Latin America
Hit Comedian and TV Personality To Lead First Spanish-Language Version of Unscripted Global Phenomenon
May 19, 2020 - Endemol Shine Boomdog, a division of Endemol Shine North America, has signed breakout comedian and TV personality Franco Escamilla to host the first Spanish-language adaptation of hit unscripted series LEGO® Masters, it was announced today by Alejandro Rincon, CEO Endemol Shine Boomdog.
Escamilla, one of the top comedians in Latin America and host of his own series “The Franco Escamilla Show,” just wrapped a sold-out comedy tour across North America. Endemol Shine Boomdog is currently developing the Spanish-language version of LEGO Masters that will be produced in Mexico City.
“We knew exactly who we wanted to host ‘LEGO Masters’ and we were fortunate that Franco was a big fan of the show and wanted to join in on the fun, as well,” said Rincon. “His comedy style and unabashed sarcasm perfectly match the tone of this family-friendly series that has quickly become a global phenomenon.”
Escamilla stated, "I have always been a lover of LEGO bricks. I like to build them alone, but now I really enjoy doing it with my family. When I heard about this series, I was extremely excited to have been chosen to be the presenter. From the small sculptures to the most gigantic ones, they really challenge me. And now joining the Latin American production, which will be a program for the entire family to enjoy, in which competition and comedy are added, is an honor."
Escamilla, better known as “The Master of Sarcasm," is a Mexican-born musician, comedian and conductor. Known for his live comedy shows, Escamilla has performed worldwide, with performances on five continents, in far-reaching locales such as Alaska, Qatar, Hawaii, Tokyo, London, Australia, among others. He has sold out four times the National Auditorium in Mexico City, and his most recent achievement was at the beginning of the year, when he performed a sold-out show at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall.
LEGO Masters is one of the fastest growing TV formats in the world and has been adapted in seven other global territories, including the U.S., U.K., Australia, Germany, Sweden, Belgium and The Netherlands. Endemol Shine North America launched LEGO Masters on FOX in February, where it recently ended its first season as the #1 new series launch in the U.S., attracting more than 36 million unique viewers. The format made its debut in both The Netherlands and Belgium last month and also just kicked off its second season in Australia, where it was the most successful entertainment premiere of 2020.
LEGO MASTERS pits enthusiasts in a competition that starts with a single LEGO brick and infinite possibilities and concludes with mind-blowing builds that will surely both inspire legions of loyal LEGO followers and capture the imagination of new fans.
LEGO Masters was originally created by Tuesday’s Child Productions and The LEGO Group and Endemol Shine Group are the exclusive distributor of the format and all finished tape globally.
Endemol Shine Boomdog currently produces such hit series as Chumel Con Chumel (HBO), MasterChef Latino (Telemundo), MasterChef Mexico (Azteca), Mira Quien Baila (Televisa/Univision), Nicky Jam: El Ganador (Netflix), LOL (Amazon) and Me Caigo de Risa (Televisa).
