Endemol Shine Boomdog & Mauricio Ochmann Developing Scripted TV Series "El Asesor"
October 12, 2018—Endemol Shine Boomdog, a division of Endemol Shine North America, is teaming up with award-winning actor Mauricio Ochmann and his production company, A Toda Madre Entertainment, to develop the original scripted drama series “El Asesor.”
Ochmann, the award-winning film and television actor known for such hits as “El Chema” and “El Senor de los Cielos,” will both star and serve as an executive producer on the series.
“El Asesor” is a political thriller that explores the limits of loyalty and power, following lead Alex Navarro’s (Ochmann) non-stop life as a political counselor, law firm partner, husband and father. He’s also addicted to women and is the guardian angel of a leading political candidate from Mexico’s biggest state, serving as a clever fixer on several limitless situations. His main goal is to keep climbing the political ladder, while making his candidate the most powerful man in Mexico, no matter what it takes—albeit with a personal price to pay for following such a dark path.
“It’s a great pleasure teaming up with Mauricio, who besides being one of the best actors in Mexico, is a strong voice as a producer as well, with his company A Toda Madre,” says Leo Zimbron, Endemol Shine Boomdog’s new head of scripted programming. “As Boomdog continues to offer great scripted stories, we will seek out creative partners like Mauricio, to bring high quality entertainment to the world.”
Added Ochmann, ““I’m very excited to develop this series with my friends at Endemol Shine Boomdog,” says Ochmann. “The characters and the stories are truly amazing and it should be a lot of fun to make.”
Ochmann is best known for his starring roles in the highly-rated TV series “El Chema” and “El Senor de los Cielos.” Ochmann's smash hit series “El Chema” (2017) is one of the highest-rated TV series in the history of Telemundo and he has appeared in numerous other hit Telemundo programs, including “Victoria, Victorinos” and “El Clon.”
Most recently, Ochmann starred in the feature film “Ya Veremos,” which opened as the second highest film opening in the history of Mexican cinema. In 2017, Ochmann starred in “Hazlo Como Hombre,” which was the top-grossing Mexican movie in 2017 and “A la Mala,” which was Mexico’s highest-grossing film for 2015 and released by Pantelion/Lionsgate in the US. Ochmann also starred in the highly-rated and innovative “Controlada” episode of the Netflix original series “Easy.”
Ochmann is married to actress Aislinn Derbez with whom he owns the television and film production company A Toda Madre Entertainment based in Los Angeles. Their production company recently acquired the film rights to the book "The Toltec Art of Life and Death," by best-selling author Don Miguel Ruiz. Ochmann is managed by Larry Robinson at Avatar Entertainment in Los Angeles.
