“Origenes” features acclaimed Argentinian chef Mauro Colagreco, Peru’s Virgilio Martinez and Mexico’s Jorge Vallejo—who own and run Latin American restaurants all ranked in the top 50 of the 2017 World’s Best Restaurants in the World list. “‘Origenes’ will take viewers on a ride across Latin America like no other, exploring the region’s food origins with three of the top chef’s in the world,” says Endemol Shine Boomdog CEO Alejandro Rincon. “And with an award-winning filmmaker like Jesse Roesler behind the camera, each episode will make you hungry for more.”
Each 30-minute episode of “Origenes” will be a journey of discovery, tracing specific techniques and cooking styles to its source. The series will include episodes set in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and other Latin American nations.
Colagreco, who is the co-owner of Mirazur in Menton, Argentina, is the first Argentinian chef to receive two Michelin stars. Colagreco has been named a Member of the Ordre of the Arts and the Letters and a Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux.
Martinez, who owns Central in Lima, Peru, is known for challenging convention in the kitchen. Martinez trained at Le Cordon Bleu in both London and Ottawa and has worked at some the top restaurants globally including Lutece in NYC and Astrid y Gaston in Bogota and Madrid.
Vallejo, who is one of the leaders of modern Mexican cuisine, owns Quintonil in Mexico City. Vallejo has a stated mission—rescue traditions, techniques and ingredients that are representative of his country’s cuisine with a modern touch.
