AT&T AUDIENCE Network Announces All New Episodes of “KINGDOM” to Premiere on Wednesday, June 1 at 9 P.M. ET/ PT
March 2, 2016 - AT&T AUDIENCE Network has announced that all new episodes of the critically-acclaimed drama “Kingdom,” from creator, writer and executive producer Byron Balasco, will premiere this Summer. The second half of its 20 episode second season will air on AUDIENCE Network on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/ PT beginning June 1, 2016. “Kingdom” is produced by Endemol Shine Studios.
The “Kingdom” cast stars Frank Grillo (“Captain America,” “The Purge”) as Alvey Kulina, a Mixed Martial Arts legend and owner of Navy St. MMA gym based in Venice, CA; Kiele Sanchez (“The Purge,” “Lost”) as Lisa Prince, Alvey’s girlfriend; Matt Lauria (“Friday Night Lights”) as Ryan “The Destroyer” Wheeler, the world-class athlete who had it all, including Lisa Prince, until his spiraling drug addiction landed him in prison; Jonathan Tucker (“Justified, “Parenthood”) as Jay Kulina, Alvey’s eldest son; Nick Jonas as Nate Kulina, Alvey’s youngest son and the prized fighter at the gym; Joanna Going (“House of Cards,” “Mad Men”) as Christina Kulina, Alvey’s estranged wife and mother to Jay and Nate and Natalie Martinez (“Secrets and Lies”), as Alicia Mendez, an impulsive but skilled female fighter who is training at Navy Street MMA Gym.
Season 2 continues to throw all of its players into the ring and put them against their leading opponents – guilt, fear, heartbreak, abandonment, addiction and redemption. In the first half of the season, Ryan conquered his demons of the past long enough to enter the ring to defend his lightweight title, but his biggest fight is always outside of the cage. Jay nearly lost it all when he and brother Nate discovered their mother, Christina, unconscious after she overdosed on heroin. Nate, tired of living with his addict mother, told her if she intended to end her life to do it because he is not willing to lose his brother Jay over her addiction. Alvey, concerned that Nate, despite being a talented athlete, wont find traction as an MMA fighter, has other plans for his son, but Alvey’s preoccupation with his failing relationship with Lisa, the uncertain future of their unborn son and witnessing the suicide of a recently reunited friend, has his priorities divided.
In the second half of season 2, Alvey is forced to face his past and deal with the impact of what’s happening with the people around him. Ryan’s championship match is in doubt and he accepts a challenge that will test not only his physical endurance but also his relationship with his best friend. Nate takes on a new role at Navy St. MMA gym, but insists on returning to the cage to prove he has what it takes to make it as a fighter. Alicia prepares for the biggest fight of her career. Jay’s journey of ups and downs to battle his addiction and find humility progresses as his chance to secure the lightweight title nears. Lisa, unsure of what future there is for her now, confronts Alvey and makes a life altering decision that will forever change their trajectory.
“Kingdom” is distributed internationally by Endemol Shine International.
