Google+ And MasterChef Team Up For First-Of-Its-Kind Cookalong Series
Fans of FOX's hit series MASTERCHEF will get a chance to cook alongside their favorite finalists in a first-of-its-kind cooking series streaming live via Google+ Hangouts starting Tuesday, June 18.
MASTERCHEF, produced by Shine America and One Potato Two Potato, is the first reality cooking competition series to use Google+ Hangouts to host a live show with on-air talent since the product launched in June 2011.
On each one-hour “Cookalong,” up to four fans will cook and interact with a Season Four MASTERCHEF finalist in real time as he/she prepares a favorite summer dish. The “Cookalongs” kick off on Tuesday, June 18 at 9:00 PM ET with MASTERCHEF finalist Krissi Biasiello (age 34), a paralegal from Philadelphia, PA, as she prepares her favorite summer fried chicken recipe. Additional finalists will be announced closer to “Cookalong” dates scheduled for July 9, July 23, Aug. 6, Aug. 20 and Sept. 3. The cookalongs will stream live at 9:00 PM ET on the MASTERCHEF Google+ page (https://plus.google.com/+masterchef/posts), as well as on FOX’s YouTube Channel, (http://www.youtube.com/FOX), where the cookalongs will also be available for playback.
“MASTERCHEF is a great partner that’s leveraging the power of Hangouts technology to connect people in a truly interactive cooking experience. They are one of the first reality television series to provide a new avenue to continue to engage with the series’ fans,” said Steve Grove, Director of Google+ Partnerships.
“We are constantly looking for the most innovative ways to allow our MASTERCHEF fans the chance to interact with the series on multiple platforms,” says Vivi Zigler, President Shine 360˚. “Cooking is inherently social and Google+Hangouts offer MASTERCHEF’s loyal audience a truly unique and informative social experience.”
The “Cookalong” series will be moderated by Laura Vitale, creator of “Laura in the Kitchen” (YouTube).
